It was a weekend of rallies and political meetings as leading politicians finalise plans ahead of the start of campaigns for the 2023 General Election.

Young people led the news cycle in the political space as they held rallies in two of Nigeria’s major cities – Port Harcourt in Rivers State and Onitsha in Anambra State – in support of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

The rallies attracted hundreds of thousands of youth.

As the young people gathered in Nigeria, Mr. Obi continued his political meetings with Nigerians in the diaspora, Atiku Abubakar flew into Kano to welcome a former Governor of Kano State to the People’s Democratic Party, and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo met with the former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna.

In faraway Vatican City, Nigerian Peter Ebele Okpaleke was ordained as a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
