Zidane is back as Real boss as Santiago Solari is sacked.
After leaving the club 10months ago, Zinedine Zidane is back as manager of Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Frenchman replaces Argentine Santiago Solari who himself was only appointed less than five months ago after the sacking of Spaniard Julien Lopetegui, who was appointed following Zidane’s resignation last may.
Santiago Solari was sacked after a disappointing campaign so far that has seen The Galacticos exit the Champions League, The Copa Del Rey and currently sit third in the La Liga, 12 points behind leaders Barcelona.
After back to back defeats in 4days at home to Barcelona and a shock Champions League exit at the hands of Ajax, Real returned to winning ways away at Valladolid on Sunday, winning 4-1, a result that proved to be Solari’s last as manager of the club.
"Real Madrid thanks Santiago Solari for his work done and the commitment and loyalty he has shown to what is his home" said a statement by the club.
Zidane returns to the side he led to an unprecedented triple Champions League success, as well as two UEFA Super Cups, two Club World Cups, a La Liga title and a Spanish Super Cup, in what as a trophy-laden first spell at the club.
"I want to put this club back where it belongs. It has been difficult from the outside looking in” said the 46year old during his unveiling on Monday. "I have been living here in Madrid, doing my things. But I have recharged my batteries. I'm ready to coach this great club again" added Zidane.
"The best manager in the world has rejoined the club, our destinies are once again united" said club president Florentino Perez.
Zidane has signed a contract that will keep him in charge until 2022.
