The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the senior national side.
He replaces Imama Amapakabo as assistant to chief coach Gernot Rohr.
The 39-year-old who has 100 caps for the Super Eagles is Nigeria’s second most capped player. He made his debut in 2001 against Zambia in Chingola.
He represented Nigeria at six African Cup of Nations tournaments, captaining the team at the 2013 edition which they won in South Africa.
The former Everton, Norwich and Fenerbache defender also featured in three World Cup tournaments (2002, 2010 and 2014) for the Super Eagles.
He is the first African to captain Everton, going on to make more than 250 appearances for the Merseyside club.
