WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY: NEEDFUL KNOWLEDGE, MEDICAL ATTENTION, OTHER MEASURES
The holiday is centered around reminding people of commitments
World TB Day or better still, World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated on 24 March each year. In 2019, the holiday is centered around reminding people of the commitments made and the need for more action, research, funding, human rights, and accountability.
In Nigeria, people take the issue in so many wrong ways. About 80 percent of the tuberculosis cases are still not detected yet. This is one of the highlights of the show Morning Crossfire on 99.3 Nigeria Info.
The problem is really made worse by the poor capacity of healthcare sector in Nigeria. For years, the public health organizations officials have been trying to deal with how treatments are given and taken by patients.
In 2019, World Tuberculosis Day offers an opportunity to raise awareness about the burden of tuberculosis (TB) worldwide and the status of TB prevention and care efforts. It is also an opportunity to mobilize political and social commitment for further progress in efforts to end TB.
