What Caused Abesan Estate Fire - LASEMA
By Ufuoma Egbamuno
A tanker conveying stolen petroleum products which hit an electric pole was the cause of the early morning inferno at Absesan Estate, Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos. This is according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) in a statement made available to our correspondent Ijeoma Esek.
In the early hours of Monday, fire gutted parts of the estate before it was put out by a combined team of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos Response Team.

Earlier, eyewitnesses told Nigeria Info FM correspondent Wemimo Adwewuni that the fire started as a result of people who brought in a Tanker to scoop diesel from an NNPC pipeline in the area.
LASEMA says its officials have contacted men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) as well as officials of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Pipelines Product Marketing Company (PPMC) for the trans-loading/recovery of the remaining petrol products.
Crucially, no life was lost and no injuries were recorded in the inferno. Rescue and recovery operations are still ongoing.
