WCQ: We Are Not in an 'Easy' Group - Rohr
By Olamide Fadoju
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has rubbished talks that his side have been drawn in an easy group for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles have been pitted against Cape Verde, Central African Republic and Liberia in Group C of the second round of the qualifiers.
Following the draws, pundits believe that the West African side are favourites to qualify but the German told ESPN that the group is more complicated and won't be a walkover as expected.
“All the groups, all the teams are difficult to beat and nobody can say it’s a good draw and we must be very careful because I think a lot of people believe we favourites in the group but we have a team which is able to do it and I have confidence in my young team.
He, however, expressed his confidence in his team stressing that a lot of work still needs to be done to ensure safe passage to the World Cup.
"But we still have to do work to progress. Very confident but very careful at the same time, I am confident because our team is on the right way and there has been progress but we have to work very hard to prepare like we did in the last edition.”
The second round of qualifiers is billed to kick off in October 2020.
