Unity Bank Fire: We’ll Conduct Risk Assessment – LASEMA

General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyitolu says the agency will “risk assessment” and “integrity” of the Unity Bank Headquarters building which was gutted by fire earlier today.
One of the floors of the bank’s Head Office was gutted by fire earlier today. According to a statement by Unity Bank, the Banking Hall and other strategic business areas were not affected.

The LASEMA Head also confirmed no life or casualty was recorded in the fire
“We are going to conduct risk assessment of the building. We are going to check the integrity of the building,” Oke-Osanyitolu said.
“We thank God no casualty is involved and we are on top. Our response was swift, prompt, effective and efficient. We are going to check the integrity of the building,” the LASEMA GM said.
“Right now, what we are doing is damping, we are going to conduct risk assessment of the building. We are going to check the integrity of the building.”

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained according to the bank in a statement released earlier, even as the extent of damage is now being assessed.
The LASEMA GM also emphasized the prompt response of his team, describing it as “swift, prompt and effective.”
“The Director of the fire service of Lagos State is on ground with her team. All the key stakeholders that are important in managing emergencies are on ground. We are here with all the key stakeholders both at the public and the private sector, with the aggressiveness and with the teamwork, we were able to put out the fire”, said Oke-Osanyitolu.
