UEFA CL: Odey Scores as Liverpool Beat Genk

Nigerian International Stephen Odey scored a consolatory goal for Belgian Champions Genk as they lost 4:1 to European Champions, Liverpool.
Odey come on as an 81st minute substitute for compatriot Paul Onauchu with his side trailing by 4 goals. It was not a great start for him as he picked up a yellow 3 minutes later.
But the former MFM man would have the last laugh as he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal two minutes from time swiveling to hit a shot past Allison after good move from another substitute Diumerci N’Dongala.
Earlier, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain put Liverpool ahead with just two minutes on the clock with a shot from outside the box. The former Arsenal man then doubled his side’s lead 12 minutes after the restart with a deft shot from outside the box. Sadio Mane and Mohammed scored Liverpool’s 3rd and 4th goal before Odey’s consolation.
The win is Liverpool’s first away from home in 5 matches. The last time Jurgen Klopp’s side won away from home in Europe was in 2017 in the group stages of the competition
Elsewhere, Lionel Messi scored and set up Luis Suarez via a free kick as Barcelona beat Slavia Prague 2:1 in Czech Republic.
With just on the clock, Messi passed the ball into the net after a pass from Arthur. The home side came back storming in the second half and deservedly equalized in the 50th minute courtesy of Jan Boril.
But Suarez would have the last laugh as Peter Olayinka’s attempted clearance off Messi’s free-kick found the Uruguan whose shot deflected off the Nigerian to seal victory for Ernosto Valverde’s side.
