Two Dead in Apapa Gas Explosion
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says two children (male and female) lost their lives and 23 others suffered multiple burns in the gas explosion incident that occurred on Wednesday at Aduke Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.
The Emergency Agency also says the incident was as a result of gas leakage at a gas cylinder store.
Director General/CEO of the LASEMA Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that further investigations revealed that the fire ignited as a result of a call being made by an unidentified resident, which escalated to other nearby shops and a bungalow behind the shops.
According to him, another body met at the scene was identified as Damilare Afolabi, and the remains were bagged by the LRT and handed over to the family.
All the casualties are being evacuated to the Burn Unit, Gbagada General Hospital.
The entire area has been cordoned and post disaster assessment is ongoing.
