Three Die of Lassa Fever in Rivers
Three persons have died of Lassa Fever in Rivers State.
Chinwe Atata, Acting Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, confirmed this at a news conference this morning.
Atata said the samples taken from the cases tested positive for the Lassa fever virus.
She also said all contacts and close family members of the people who died have been put under surveillance and are being regularly tested for the virus.
Recall last week, a suspected case of Lassa fever had claimed three lives in Kano.
The Nigeria Medical Association through its Chairman Dr Sanusi Bala had confirmed to Correspondent Kolawole Omoniyi that his Association lost two of its members, Dr Muhammed Habib Musa and Dr Garikide, both of them working at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH.)
