Supreme Court Set to Review Imo Governorship Decision
The Supreme Court will at 3pm on Tuesday March 3 resume proceedings as it delivers judgment on the Imo state governorship review.
In proceeding that held on Tuesday morning, counsel to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Kanu Agbai, in his arguments before the court says the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Hope Uzodinma benefitted a ruling they did not seek.
He stressed that the party only prayed for a fresh election but the Supreme Court in its judgment declared it winner of the election.
Countering the argument, Domian Dodo, counsel to Uzodinma, says the Supreme Court lacks the jurisdiction to revisit its judgment of January 14, 2020.
He however prayed the court to strike out the application for lacking in merit.
The 7-justices panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammad fixed the time after taking briefs from both counsels.
