Supreme Court Ruling a Robbery - PDP
By Samuel Victor Akpan
The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) says the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Kano governorship tussle is “connivance of forces to oppress the Nigerian democracy.”
This was revealed in a statement signed by Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, Spokesperson to the PDP Gubernatorial candidate Alhaji Abba K. Yusuf on Monday.
Speaking further on the ruling, Tofa said the people of Kano state have been robbed off their mandate by “agents of tyranny and undemocratic principles.” He also said the “unavoidable judgment” of Almighty Allah is awaited.
“Today’s judgment on the Kano governorship tussle further confirms the connivance of the allied forces of election robbery who are oppressors of the Nigerian democracy.”
“Considering the overwhelming evidence presented by the eminent team of experienced lawyers, one cannot imagine how these agents of tyranny and undemocratic principles joined hands to rob the good people of Kano their mandate.”
“However, we have seen the worst of what they can do, so they should await the judgment of the Almighty Allah which they cannot avoid”, said the PDP spokesperson.
The Supreme Court had earlier on Monday upheld the victory of Abdullahi Ganduje at the March 24, 2019 governorship election in Kano State.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Sylvester Nkwuta, the Apex court maintained that the appellants have not been able to prove their case. They said that the appeal was lacking in merit and therefore struck it out.
