Students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University are protesting following the collapse of a pedestrian bridge at the Gubi Campus area of the university on Monday which left students dead and many others injured.
The bridge - which links one of the hostels and another building containing lecture halls - collapsed following heavy rains.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abdulazeez Ahmed confirmed to Channels Television, that four of the students died as a result of the collapsed bridge.
Premium Times also reports that about 20 students were on the bridge when the incident occured, many of whom are now missing.
The protesting students have blamed the institution’s management for the collapse of the bridge which they say was due to negligence on the institution’s part.
