Spanish World Cup Winner Announces Retirement

Former Spanish international, David Villa has announced that he will retire from football at the end of the current season.

 

Villa, 37,  who currently plays for Japanese team Vissel Kobe made this announcement via Twitter on Wednesday.

 

He said “After 19 years as a professional, I have decided to retire from playing football at the end of this season. Thank you to all the teams, coaches and teammates that have allowed me to enjoy this dreamed career. Thank you to my family, that has always been there to support me.”

 

He added that he hopes to cap up his career by winning the Emperor’s Cup with Vissel Kobe at the end of the season.

 

The Spanish striker’s trophy-laden career includes a FIFA World Cup, UEFA champions league, three la Liga titles among other trophies.
