Senate To Investigate Invasion of Court By DSS
Senate has mandated its Committee on Judiciary to investigate circumstances surrounding the invasion of High Court in Abuja by alleged armed operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS who sought to arrest Omoyele Sowore.
This move is coming one week after the incident happened and 48 hours after the House of Representatives debated the matter.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Opeyemi Bamidele, had told his colleagues on Thursday that the Upper Chamber cannot afford to ignore the development which resulted to public outcry.
The lawmaker came under order 43 of the Senate Standing Rules which leaves no room for debate for lack of incontrovertible facts and evidence.
In his ruling, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan directed the committee to interface with the relevant security agencies and report back in one week.
