Senate Backs Establishment of Civil Defence Academy In Kaduna
The Senate is seeking the establishment of the Nigerian Civil Defence Academy (NCDA) in Pandogari, Kaduna state. This is as part of efforts to curb the growing rate of insecurity across the country.
The Bill which passed Second Reading on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, will ensure that officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) acquire the highest standard of professionalism while carrying out their responsibilities.
After debate on the bill which was sponsored by Senator Sani Musa, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said proper training of officers will ensure stronger effort in the war on insecurity.
The Bill was subsequently refered to the Senate Committee on Interior for further legislative work with a four-week timeframe to report back.
