Senate Adjourns Plenary Over Senator's Death
The Senate has adjourned plenary to Friday in honour of late Imo North Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, who died on Wednesday.
The Senate was to proceed on Christmas and New Year recess on Thursday but had to suspend Order 13 of their Standing Rule to enable lawmakers sit on Friday.
Moving a motion to that effect, Senate Leader Yahaya Abdullahi said the passing of Uwajumogu was a great loss to Nigeria.
Senate subsequently observed a minute silence in honour of the 51-year-old lawmaker, who until his death was Chairman, Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity.
The former Senator was said to have slumped in the toilet while taking his bath and rushed to a private hospital in Apo, Abuja where he died.
