ROHR: ZIMBABWE FRIENDLY NOT YARDSTICK FOR FINAL AFCON LIST
By Ufuoma Egbamuno
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says Saturday’s friendly against the Warriors of Zimbabwe will not be used as a yardstick to determine the two players to drop ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Respoinding to a question from Nigeria Info’s Emmanuel Etim at the press conference after the game, Rohr insists the coaching crew “already had our opinions before the match because it is a long season where we observed the players”.
According to him, the Super Eagles had seven training sessions ahead of Saturday’s game in Asaba which ended goalless.
“You cannot judge one game on this conditions”, Rohr told our correspondent at the presser.
“It is not this match which is given us the decision alone for the two players we have to drop”, he said.
The final 23-man list for the 2019 AFCON is expected later on Sunday even as the Super Eagles get set to leave Asaba for Egypt ahead of the tournament.
