According to DCP Bala, The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu following the much-publicized killing of Moradeun Balogun on Monday by armed robbers, ordered the deployment of more police officers in the state.
“So the first major decision put in place is declaring a state of emergency in traffic so that it can also solve other issues. He deployed an additional one thousand police officers and just days ago directed that an additional one thousand be deployed to make it two thousand.
"The Police spokesperson also confirmed that they received a hundred motorcycles to provide more police presence, especially during the yuletide season adding that a special task force has been set up to arrest miscreants that attack unsuspecting citizens.
“We got some motorcycles from the state government, we got the first batch of 100 motorcycles which the city is also deploying today for patrolling to ensure that we don’t have traffic robberies and other traffic-related crimes going on.
“Getting a special task force to deal with social miscreants that task force is tasked with the responsibility of taking the battle already they are tackling. So Lagosians can move freely without anybody attacking them.”
DCP Bala while giving out the police emergency numbers also advised citizens to have the numbers at all times and quickly contact the police in case of any incident.
"Store police numbers on your phone. We even encourage people to go as far as memorizing those numbers so they don’t need to start scrolling searching for the number in case of emergency. We have numbers.
"At least take on of such numbers memorize it so that when you notice something instantly call those emergency numbers.
"And soon as they respond to your call, you don’t just say there is robbery, it’s not sufficient. Take your little time to give them direction.
"Let me give the control room number also we have 08065154338, 08063299264,08039344870,080603-57795, these numbers are from the four different control rooms spread across Lagos, they can call anyone, control will respond and send a team to that location.
