Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers In Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a kidnap syndicate in the state.
The suspects including two males and a female were trailed and arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS at a hideout in Ogidi, Idemili Council Area.
Police said the suspects had allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and demanded the sum of 10 million naira as ransom for her release.
The victim while narrating her ordeal revealed that they had held her hostage for 27 days and raped her severally.
According to her, "On the 13th of January 2020, I was on my way to my parents' house. A man stopped me, he told me my face looks familiar. I told him I am from Ogidi, he said he was also from Ogidi that was how I got to his house and he locked me up since then refusing to let me go.
"When he locked me up, he was using e for sexual intercourse and wouldn’t let me go. He was also beating me up. I spent up to a month there."
The mother of the victim, Mrs. Ukamaka Onyechi said the suspects had threatened to kill her daughter if she did not pay the ransom and thanked the Police for rescuing her daughter.
"I sent her to school on January 12th. On the 13th her guardian called me that she was not in school since then I have been looking for her until 8th February.
"One week after the incident, they sent a message to my phone that if I want to see my daughter I should bring ten million then later they came down to 60,000. That I must go and pay now and I shouldn’t involve the police."
