Phyno: Focus On The Right Thing Not Violence
By Dipo Omoware
In the wake of the recent xenophobic attacks that occurred in South Africa over the last weekend, Nigerian rapper Chibuzor Azubuike better known as Phyno has condemned the attacks and urged citizens to channel their energies into the right thing.
The rapper who visited our sister station Cool FM to promote his new album ‘Deal With It’ said no one should support the reprisal attacks in Nigeria.
"It's a very bad thing and I do not support it, no one should support it, it is a very evil thing."
The MC known for such hits as 'Fada Fada' and 'Ghost Mode' said “the same energy put into these things (violent attacks) should be put it into the economy.”
He urged Nigerians living in South Africa to come back home and work together to hold government accountable.
“They should come back and we should all put hands together. It’s not only during elections that our leaders should come out and say something; if there were jobs, these things would not be happening, people would not be travelling, if the right things were done, people would not suffer."
“You shouldn’t remain in a place simply because you earn a living there at the risk of losing your life,” he added.
He also commented on the recent tweets by South African rapper, AKA and advised that “his people should collect his phone from him.”
AKA and Nigerian rapper YCee had on Tuesday went back and forth on Twitter over AKA’s Twitter outrage when the South African national football team lost to the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the last Nations Cup.
YCee called out his South African counterpart for his “childish grown man tantrum” when they lost the game and AKA fired back by saying the Nigerian’s narrative was stupid.
There is this subtle dislike that a lot of them (If not all) feel towards Nigerians and no matter how hard they try to hide it .. it eventually jumps out - like when AKA had a full childish grown man tantrum when they lost to Nigeria in the nations cup— ZAHEER! (@iam_YCee) September 3, 2019
South Africa and Nigeria is the continent’s BIGGEST RIVALRY ... a SIBLING RIVALRY because we are brothers and sisters ... I also hate losing to Australia for fucks sake. Let’s pull together as Africans and stop dividing ourselves. This whole narrative is stupid!!! https://t.co/fT4S4JpKO0— AKA (@akaworldwide) September 3, 2019
