No Bayern Contact Yet- Wenger
As the search for the next Bayern manager continues following Niko Kovac’s dismissal, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has poured cold water on reports he is in talks with the Bavarian giants over becoming their new boss.
The German champions sacked Croat Niko Kovac on Sunday after a 5-1 hammering at Eintracht Frankfurt in the league.
Wenger, who has been out of management since leaving Arsenal in May 2018 however revealed that he nearly joined the German side a long time ago.
Speaking on beIN Sports, Wenger said, “We have not talked to each other and I don’t know. I was nearly going to Bayern a long, long time ago. At the moment, I haven’t talked to them at all.”
“I never refuse to talk to Bayern Munich because I know these people who lead the club for 30 years.”
During his 22-year stay at Arsenal, the 70-year-old Frenchman won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.
Bayern are fourth on the Bundesliga table, four points behind league leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.
