Nigeria Defeat Lesotho in AFCON Qualifier
By Olamide Fadoju
Nigeria defeated Lesotho 4-2 in a 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.
The Super Eagles had an early scare when Lesotho took the lead in the 11th minute through a Nkoto Masoabi header but turned the game on its head in the first half as Lille striker, Victor Osimhen assisted both Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukweze to put the Super Eagles 2-1 ahead.
Osimhen turned it up in the second half turning in Ola Aina's cross in the 75th minute to extend the lead.
He later raced on to a Ramon Azeez through ball in the 84th minute to finish expertly and complete the scoring for Nigeria.
There was late drama when Chidozie Awaziem scored a late own goal but it was too late to inspire a fightback from Lesotho.
Nigeria's victory maintains a perfect record from two games and extends their lead in Group L to three points.
