NERC Denies Increase in Electricity Tariff
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says there is no immediate increase in electricity tariff for customers.
It also says the proposed tariff review is what they are mandated to do as regulators which are carried out twice every year.
NERC Chairman Professor James Momoh stated this on Monday at a press brief organized to herald the 11th Edition of the International Conference on Energy, Power system operations and planning.
He said there is a difference between tariff review and increase, assuring Nigerians that before any decision is made with the increase or decrease in tariff, the commission will meet with the necessary stakeholders in the power sector to determine that.
Recall that NERC had on Saturday on its website approved an increase in electricity tariff by the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies in the country.
