Minister Calls for Partnership for Revenue Generation
The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, has called for a strong partnership between the Federal and State governments to generate more revenue from solid minerals.
The Minister made the appeal during a familiarization visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu at Lagos House, Marina.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, the Minister said collaboration with the three tiers of Government will ensure mining revenue from the state is recognized, properly articulated and paid into the Federal Account.
According to him, this will enable states benefit from the current thirteen percent derivation granted by Federal Government based on their mineral deposits.
The Minister further called on the Governor to properly harness other minerals existing in the state to ensure more resources that would fast-track development.
In his response, Governor Sanwo-olu expressed the state‘s willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government as it will continue to strive to contribute its quota to national development.
