LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT CONFIRMS AFRICAN TESTIMONIAL MATCH FOR AMBODE
The Lagos State Government says African football legends including Liberian President George Weah, will be part of a testimonial match in honour of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode tomorrow May 18 in Lagos.
Kweku Tandoh, Chairman State Sports Commission said in a statement that the event is designed in honour of Akinwunmi Ambode for his laudible contribution to sports development and is tagged “Match for Ambode”.
A good number of the invited legends have confirmed their attendance including Liberia’s President and former world footballer of the year George Weah, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Didier Zokora, Richard Kingston and Kader Keita. Others include, El Hadji Diouf, Geremi Njitap, Lomana Tresor Lua-Lua, Diomansy Kamara and Christian Karembu.
The Nigerian Legends include, Peter Rufai, Augustine Eguavoen, Finidi George, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amunike, Joseph Yobo, Samson Siasia, Kanu Nwankwo, Mutiu Adepoju, Ike Shorunmu, Philip Shuaibu, Ifeanyi Udeze, Uche Okechukwu, Tijani Babaginda, Taribo West and Garba Lawal.
Tandoh added that the match would be spiced up with music from A-list artistes including Small Doctor and Wizkid.
