Kano Election: Supreme Court Shifts Judgement Day
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has adjourned till January 20 to deliver judgment in the election challenging the election victory of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
A seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad adjourned the case after taking arguments from respective parties.
Despite heavy security presence and screening on Tuesday, the courtroom for the governorship appeals in the Supreme Court was overcrowded.
Recall that the CJN had on Monday for the same reason retired into the chambers before coming out later to announce the suspension of the appeal till Tuesday, citing ill health of one of the justices as the reason.
However, despite heavy security presence and screening, many party loyalists and supporters could not have access into the courtroom as the room is overcrowded.
