I Want to Make My Own Films – iLLBLISS
By Dipo Omoware
Nigerian rapper iLLBLISS has revealed he want to make his own movies. The recording artist said this on Nigeria Info’s WhaatsUP Lagos show while speaking to hosts Sheriff Quadri and Ugochi Aduwa.
The rapper who got his first stint acting in Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys (KOB) said he’s always had his eyes on the film industry but not as an actor.
“I want to work as a producer, I want to make my own films. I had always wanted to make films all these while but I was just looking for opportunity to get in and study the business.”
The MCee said he was reluctant when Kemi Adetiba approached him to be a part of the movie but the script got him excited.
“She got me involved and I didn’t want to do the film because I had never acted before. I just wanted to produce films sometime in my career, not to act but when I saw the script, I knew this Odogwu Malay guy had to be me. It’s so Illbliss.”
He described the experience as “awesome” and praised Kemi’s directing saying “she eased us in and we went from rookie status to it looking like we had done films before.”
Oga Boss as he is sometimes called said the acting stint increased his fan base and some now address him as Odogwu Malay, the character he plays in KOB.
“All the people that like Nollywood over rap music, they are now like that Odogwu Malay guy, they don’t know it’s Illbliss with 5 or 6 albums.”
