How Lagos-Ibadan Railway will Boost Oyo's Economy- Makinde
By Olamide Fadoju
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has revealed how the state's economy will benefit from the Lagos-Ibadan Railway project when it is completed.
Governor Makinde while on a monthly inspection of the railway project alongside the Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said completion of the railway project will boost economic activities in Oyo State and would bring the state closer to people which will eventually lead to more revenue.
“It would bring you now closer to our people and you will start spending some of your money in Ibadan. You will stay in our hotels. You won’t only come here for weekends. You can actually do your work in Lagos and come back and sleep in Ibadan.
“Send your children to school here, so we know precisely what we have to do to help Lagos decongest so we can also improve our economy and set a target to actually get out of Lagos ’shadow”.
Meanwhile, the state will have to wait a little longer to realize this dream after Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi admitted that the Lagos-Ibadan Railway may not be ready before the April deadline as there is still much work to be done.
