Headies 2019: Johnny Drille Thrilled at First Award
Nigerian singer, Johnny Drille has won the Best Alternative Song award at the 13th Headies for “Finding Efe". The award is Johnny’s first Headies win.
The songwriter, who was out of the country, posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram page shortly after the ceremony.
“We won! I love you guys, you’re awesome! In Kenya, really wished I was there to accept my first Headies awards. Thank you ❤,” it read.
He was nominated alongside Lady Donli, Tems, Brymo and Adekunle Gold.
Johnny Drille is one of this generation's torchbearers in alternative and folk music. He's a singer/songwriter and producer who's worked behind-the-boards for peers like Nonso Bassey and Cobhams. His stories about love and hope have found audiences across the spectrum and made him one of the most loved faces in Nigerian music.
Johnny Drille got his start on Season 3 of the reality show, MTN Project Fame. In 2017, he was activated by Mavin Records, with the release of the ballad, "Wait For Me".
In 2018, he was nominated in four categories at the Headies including the highly coveted Next Rated category.

Johnny Drille’s closing a noteworthy year with intent as he prepares for the second edition of Johnny’s Room Live, his intimate live concert series. The Lagos edition will happen on the 27th of October 2019 at Muri Okunola Park.
