FRSC Assures on Better Traffic Situation in Anambra
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra has assured residents of the state that the heavy vehicular movement witnessed along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and other Federal Roads in the state due to closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport will soon become a thing of the past.
FRSC Sector Corps Commander in Anambra, Commander Andrew Kumapayi disclosed this in a chat with Nigeria Info correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah.
Kumapayi said the FRSC was liaising with the Federal Ministry of Works to undertake palliative works on bad spots across the state to ease the flow of traffic.
“The bad portion of the road has attributed to the delays, especially the traffic gridlocks caused by these bad spots. We are liaising with the Federal Ministry of Works here especially the controller and he has assured us that work will have to be done in some areas”
The Sector Commander also said the FRSC was partnering with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state to conduct random tests on drivers to check the incessant use of hard drugs while driving.
“We have breathalyzers that we are using, we are partnering with NDLEA here in the state to conduct tests on some drivers.”
“With the support that we’re getting form the state government, we are going to go to all the major motor parks here as early as possible, before drivers reach the road.”
“We will ensure that we conduct some tests so that we don’t have cases of road traffic accidents during this period.”
