Flooding: Four Dead, Seven Missing In Kano
About three persons were confirmed dead with seven others missing at Gama D Community in Nasarawa Local Government of Kano after Sunday’s heavy downpour which lasted for several hours.
Eyewitness account disclosed that the torrential rain caused overwhelming flooding and in the process, swept the victims into a pond.
Parents of the deceased, Murtala Hasim and Ado Ali Ismail confirmed the deaths of their children in separate interviews with Correspondent, Victor Christopher, lamenting that the incessant flooding during rainy season has been lingering for several years at the community.
They also confirmed that the victims including Yusufa Murtala (14), Salisu Adamu (16), and Umaru Dandadi (18), were all buried on Monday according to Islamic rites.
When contacted, the Kano State Police Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa and the State Fire Service said they were yet to receive any report regarding the incident.
