Twenty-two rooms block building at 7, Dimm street Port Harcourt Rivers State was razed by a fire outbreak in the early hours of Friday.

Nigeria Info FM correspondent reports that though men of the Rivers State Fire Service put off the fire which lasted for more than one hour, it is the first 2020 reported fire outbreak in the Port Harcourt metropolis.

The correspondent who visited the scene of the fire also reports that friends, neighbors and family members of the fire victims were all gathered taking stocks of the valuable items that got burnt and the cause of the fire is yet known.

Meanwhile, some of the tenants of the twenty-two rooms bungalow building who recounted their loss in the fire outbreak said it started around 12 am midnight.

Some of them who explained how the fire started said they suspected electric spark in one of the rooms.

The visibly disappointed fire victims also said that if the fire servicemen had come early enough with more than one fire truck the damage would have been reduced.

They expressed worry that they lost virtually every valuable except for those who managed to take items like school certificates and foams among others, to safety.
