FG To Sponsor More HIV/AIDS Patients

The Federal Government says it will increase the number of HIV/AIDS patients it is sponsoring from 50, 000 to 100,000.
The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA), Dr Gambo Aliyu stated this today at a press briefing ahead of the 2019 “World Aids Day”.
Dr Aliyu said the agency would also step up its efforts in providing counselling and also encouraging Nigerians to know their HIV status.
He said different enlightenment strategies which are targeted at rural communities would soon be implemented so as to aid address the menace the virus was causing.
“The message from NACA to Nigerians is that communities make the difference and communities of people living with HIV/AIDS the volunteers that are out, the people that are working with our health workers the religious leaders that political leaders every community matters in the control of HIV/AIDS. This is the message NACA is passing.
“We want community partnership and ownership, and we want to take the campaign of HIV and make sure every member of the community know about their HIV status and do something about it.”
