Bomb Explodes in Ekiti

 

A bomb went off at the office of the anti-bomb unit of the Nigeria police force in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, February 9, but no one was injured and no life was lost.

 

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Amba Asuquo, said the explosion was caused by some bomb detection devices kept in the office which may have exploded due to a technical occurrence.

 

New Reality Show Begins

 

Reality show lovers have something new to get them excited as the maiden edition of the Ultimate Love Nigeria kicked off on Sunday, February 9.

 

The reality TV show puts 16 people who are single and looking for a serious relationship in a house for eight weeks so they could find the love of their life.

The participants will compete in various tasks that will test their bond and win the public vote.

 

Prizes on offer include an all-expense paid traditional wedding ceremony and a fully furnished home if the winning couple decides to get married.

 

Brad Pitt Wins First Acting Oscar

 

Veteran actor, Brad Pitt picked up a long-overdue first Oscar for an acting role at the Academy Awards held on Sunday, February 9.

 

He took the prize for best-supporting actor for his performance as Cliff Booth in the flick, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

 

 

One of the night’s biggest winners was the South Korean movie, Parasite which made history by winning four awards including best director for Bong Joon-ho and an unexpected best picture.

 

It’s the first time a non-English film has won the top prize.

 

Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix and Renée Zellweger both won Oscars for their lead performances in Joker and Rudy respectively.

Coronavirus: Confirmed Deaths Pass 900 Mark

 

Chinese authorities have confirmed that the Coronavirus has now killed over 900 people in the country since the outbreak began in the Wuhan province in December, 2019.

 

In its daily update, Hubei's health commission confirmed that there are another 2,618 new cases in the central province, where the outbreak first emerged.

 

More than 40,000 cases have now been confirmed worldwide as the deadly virus continues to spread.
