FCT Traffic Team Condemns Attack by Okada Operators
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ministerial Task Team on traffic free flow has condemned in strong terms what it described as a heinous attack by some commercial motorcyclists, otherwise known as Okada riders, on a member of the Joint FCTA Transportation/Traffic Enforcement Team, Danladi Ibrahim.
Chairman of the FCT Ministerial Task Team, Ikharo Attah while speaking with journalists disclosed that the attack has left the victim battling for his life.
It was gathered that Ibrahim was with the roving team at Apo Area in Gudu District where the operations of commercial motorcycles remains highly prohibited.
According to Attah, after Ibrahim and his team confiscated a commercial motorcycle, unknowingly to them, some angry car wash operators rushed to confront them and attempted to free the motorcycle.
In the cause of ensuing argument, Ibrahim was stabbed in the chest by the okada rider who had a removed knife from his pocket, leading to fatal injury.
Furthermore, the Traffic Task Team Chairman reiterated that the FCT administration is doing everything possible to ensure that Ibrahim who is battling for his life gets the best of treatment.
He also noted that manhunt for the Okada rider and those who aided him to resist arrest is still on.
