The second newly confirmed case of coronavirus patient will leave Ogun state for the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, today. This is to help him get the required treatment.
Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Abimbola Bowale in an exclusive interview with correspondent Joy Kalio confirmed that the new case is one of the contacts of the index case.
“So there are two positive cases in Nigeria as at today.”
“The newly confirmed case is one of the contacts of the index case. That means he is one of the contacts of the first positive case that we have in Nigeria, and he’s currently in Ogun state and we are expecting that we move the patient down to Lagos for treatment.”
Abimbola also confirmed that the index case is in good health and responding well to treatment.
“He is doing very well, he’s improving daily,” said Abimbola, “he’s in very good health and we are hoping for the best for him but he’s actually doing very well.”
“We have no concern about his health status because he’s doing quite well.”
Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Enahire had on Monday in a press conference in Benin City, Edo State confirmed that Nigeria now has two confirmed Coronavirus cases.
According to him, 60 people still remain under isolation and are yet to show symptoms of the disease.
While urging the general public to stay calm and maintain good hygiene, Abimbola further stressed on the need for any information on the virus to be gotten from the right source so as to avoid panic.
“People should not panic, there is no need for anyone to actually panic. Regular hand washing with soap and water, it is the best.”
“And make sure all your news or information is gotten from the right source so that you don’t follow a lot of fake news that are out there.”
