DSS Begged Us After Sowore's Rearrest - Falana
By Olamide Fadoju
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and lead counsel to #RevolutionNOW convener, Omoyele Sowore has claimed that the Department of State Services (DSS) apologized over the rearrest of Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja last week.
According to Falana, "The SS management sent a delegation to the senior High Court in Abuja to apologize over the criminal invasion of the court on Friday.
"I did disclose yesterday, that after the invasion of the court, the Judge involved summoned the prosecutor involved and myself to her chambers where she expressed indignation over what was a sacrilegious attack on our court. Both the lawyer to the SSS and the lead SSS officer in the court premises apologized profusely."
Falana while speaking at the 14th edition of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR) also demanded an apology from presidential aides, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu over their comments on Sowore’s rearrest
"For a government to lie, it is a serious matter and we must take it up. Two of your colleagues in government, Mallam Garba Shehu and Pastor Femi Adesina, issued some statements in the last 24 hours insulting our collective intelligence. I do hope that by tomorrow both of them will have to apologize to the Nigeria people."

Meanwhile, He spoke on the removal of Vice President Yemi Osibajo from the list of Awardees for this year's award saying reports that the Vice President sent a letter to withdraw his nomination was false. He said the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism Centre (WSCIJ) took the decision independently.
"I think the office of the Vice President issued a statement to the effect that the Vice-President had written to withdraw from this programme. I think that should be corrected because an announcement was made today that the centre had taken a decision on the Vice-President."
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu had earlier in a statement released on behalf of the presidency said Sowore’s #RevolutionNow crusade staged to destabilize the country and with the state of Insecurity in the country should not be allowed to happen.
Shehu said the DSS treatment of Sowore is justified and compared Sowore to IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu as a man “who makes his home in faraway New York and who can easily disappear and leave behind whatever instability he intends to cause, to wit.”
