Nigerian Superstars Davido and Burna Boy are among the top nominees for the 6th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) Continental awards. The International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards announced nominations for its 2019 awards on the August 25.

 

South African rapper and producer Nasty C leads the nomination list with 9 nominations different categories including: ‘Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa’, ‘Artiste of the Year in Africa’ and ‘Song of the Year in Africa’.

 

 

The 22-year-old MC is also nominated for ‘Producer of the Year in Africa’, ‘Best African Rapper/Lyricist’, ‘Best African Collaboration’, ‘Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Hip-Hop’.

 

Others are ‘Songwriter of the Year in Africa’ and ‘Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B and Soul’.

 

Right behind him on the list is Nigerian Afro-pop sensation, Davido with 6 nominations in the following categories: ‘Best Male Artiste in Western Africa’, ‘Artiste of the Year in Africa’, ‘Song of the Year in Africa’ and ‘African Fans’ Favourite’.

 

 

His collaboration with Chris Brown in the song ‘Blow My Mind’ also got nominated for ‘Best African Collaboration’ and he also got the nod in the ‘Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B and Soul’ category.

 

Self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy follows his countryman with 5 nominations in the following categories: ‘Best Male Artiste in Western Africa’, ‘Artiste of the Year in Africa’ and ‘Song of the Year in Africa’.

 

 

The Ye singer will also be considered for the ‘Album of the Year in Africa’ and ‘Best African Collaboration’ awards.

 

Over 200 songs across different genres from Hip-Hop, Dancehall, R’n’B, Pop and Reggae, Ragga & Jazz were nominated for awards.

 

Fans will be able to vote for their favourite musicians from September 1 till midnight on November 22.

 

The award ceremony spanning four days will hold from November 20 to November 23 and winners will go home with a 23.9 Carat Gold-Plated AFRIMA trophy.
