In the meantime, officials at the Presidency have authorized the pruning down of the list of correspondents covering the Presidential Villa, with effect from Wednesday, March 25, 2020 until further notice.

Announcing this in a statement on Tuesday, the Deputy Director Information, In the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Attah Esa, said the list was pruned down from over a hundred to seventeen.

This is to check the spread of COVID-19 and the current restriction in the Federal Capital Territory against assembly of not more than 50 persons at the same time at any venue.

Over a hundred State House Correspondents usually converge daily on the Press Briefing Room in the Presidential Villa.

Recall that there were reports on Tuesday that Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari has tested positive to the Coronavirus. The Presidency is still yet to confirm.
