Corps Members to Enjoy New Minimum Wage

National Youth Service Corps members will enjoy an increase in monthly allowance following the approval of the new minimum wage.
Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare disclosed this in a tweet after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday ordered the payment of the N30,000 new national minimum wage on or before December 31, 2019.
Mr Dare tweeted that :

The FEC meeting which was chaired by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo directed the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed to pay the N30,000 new national minimum wage
The payment would be backdated to take effect from April 18, 2019, the date the new minimum wage bill was signed into law by President Buhari
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, while briefing newsmen at the end of FEC meeting said the new minimum wage will be effected on or before December 2019 and benchmarks would be forwarded to state governments to guide them in their own implementation.
