The anxiety is palpable!

The wait continues!!

Do we really have the dreaded Coronavirus in Nigeria?

That is the one billion naira question that we are yet to get an answer.

Or maybe we do.

A representative of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwa-Olu has opened up on the rumours that a suspected case of a patient with the Coronavirus was quarantined at a hospital in Lekki area of the state.

Oreoluwa Finnih is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwa-Olu on health matters. She insists the “rumour mongering” needs to stop as “it causes panic and helps no one.”

According to Finnih, the patient in question, “returned from a business trip to China two days ago” and was asked by his “responsible employers” to undergo a “thorough checkup at their retained hospital.”

“(The) client was examined and found asymptomatic. Lab tests were ordered and are clear. He’s been advised to self-quarantine for 14,” she noted.

Earlier, Nigeria Info did speak to Medical Director, Mainland Hospital, Yaba, Abimbola Bowale earlier to ascertain the authenticity of the rumours.

He told correspondent Ufuoma Egbamuno that the Lagos State Ministry of Health is investigating the rumours.

“The ministry has also heard that rumour and is currently investigating,” Bowale said.

“There is a rumour and the ministry is investigating and nothing has been confirmed. The Commissioner (of Health) will issue a statement very soon,” he added.

Nigeria Info will follow this story closely and bring updates…
