Coronavirus: Access Bank Closes Branch
By Dipo Omoware
Access Bank Plc has temporarily closed down its Ligali Ayorinde branch for thorough disinfection after a visitor to the branch has tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The Bank made this known in a press statement released via its twitter handle and advised customers “who visited the branch in the last week to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days starting immediately.”
The customer visited the branch last week Monday and according to the Bank was “symptom-free” when he visited. The statement further revealed the customer “is currently being monitored at an Isolation Centre in Yaba.”
Our correspondent Olamide Fadoju visited the branch and reports that access to the banking hall had been restricted but customers were still using the automated teller machines (ATM) on the bank premises.
Earlier today, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed that Nigeria had recorded its first death due to the Coronavirus. Presently, the country has 36 confirmed cases, 33 actives cases and 2 discharged cases.
