Cameroonian music legend Manu Dibango has died in a Paris hospital after contracting the Coronavirus. The jazz-funk star was 86 years old.

A message on his official Facebook page confirmed this.

"His funeral service will be held in strict privacy, and a tribute to his memory will be organized when possible," the message reads.

He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Afro-jazz

In 2009, the musician filed a suit against Michael Jackson for using the ‘Mama-say, mama-sa, ma-ma-ko-ssa’ hook from his Soul Makossa song in Jackson's 1982 hit ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’. Jackson admitted that he borrowed the line and settled out of court.
