Call Me "Mr Governor" - Sanwa-Olu
By Ufuoma Egbamuno
Lagos governor Babajide Sanwa-Olu says he now wishes to be addressed as “Mr Governor”.
Taking to his official Twitter account, the governor of the economic hub of the country insisted that the name change was to “change the narrative of governance.”
According to him, is imperative to “strip down this seeming symbol of executive arrogance that commands popular obeisance.”
“Fellow Lagosians, as I embrace the name Mr. Governor, I have come to the conclusion that for us to change the narrative of governance, we have to strip down this seeming symbol of executive arrogance that commands popular obeisance,” Sanwa-Olu noted.
The Lagos governor insisted that being called “Mr Governor” will constantly remind him that he was “chosen out of so many fellow compatriots to lead a collective salvage of our political economy.”
Sanwa-Olu was elected under the platform form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) early this year and was sworn in on May 29th 2019.
He has faced lots of criticisms from Lagosians –including some callers on Nigeria Info FM - who have complained of a seeming slow pace of his government.
