CAF Confed Cup: Galaxy Game, Our Last Chance – Enyimba Coach
By Ufuoma Egbamuno
Enyimba coach Usman Abd’Allah says his team “are not taking anything for granted” as they come up against South African second division side TS Galaxy in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.
The Aba Elephants were pitched against their South African opponents in Wednesday’s draws that took place in Cairo, Egypt.
Speaking to the club’s media channel, Coach Abd’Allah insists that Enyimba will treat their opponents “as one of the best.”
“I don’t think it really matters if they are in second division because they are cup winners,” he said. “I am not going to take anything for granted. So we are going to take this match as important as any other match that we’ve played.”
TS Galaxy are playing on the continent for the very first time in their history after their surprise 2019 Nedbank Cup win over Kaizer Chiefs earlier this year.
And for the coach of the 2019 Nigerian Champions, the game against Galaxy is Enyimba’s “last chance” at continental glory.
“We’re going to work and do everything possible to see that we qualify for the group stage. The target is the group stages. This is the last chance that we have and we are not going to let it slip away from our hands,” Abd’Allah noted.
Enyimba hosts their South African opponents on the 27th of October with the return fixture coming up a week later.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rangers International are set to battle Togolese side ASC Kara. The Flying Antelopes travel to Togo on the same weekend as Enyimba and play the return fixture a week later in Enugu.
