Senator Melaye who is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insists the exercise in Kogi “is not an election.”
Speaking to correspondent Georges Macnobleson, the Kogi West Senatorial Candidate insisted that if the election was properly conducted, he would win.
“Honestly speaking, it’s not an election,” Melaye told our correspondent.
"Election that is militarized like this, election that is full of violence, election where ballot papers and ballot boxes are easily carted away by gunmen?” Senator Melaye queried.
“If you conduct this election 100 times, I will win 100 times. If you are popular, they will not introduce violence.”
Senator Melaye also accused, Sunday Faleke of being responsible for the disruption of election in his unit. He confirmed that the incident has been reported to the police.
“Every Policeman that followed this have been briefed and they are aware, and I’m already telling you that even the culprits, five of them have been arrested,” Melaye disclosed.
He also added:”They have made confessional statement to the police that it was Sunday Faleke that sent them and that they came out of Sunday Faleke’s house. In fact one of the cars they are using is right now in Kabba at the Area Command.”
Senator Melaye is contesting against former Nigerian Union of Journalists President, Smart Adeyemi for the Kogi West Senatorial District.
