Brazil Friendly Will Help Us - Rohr
By Ufuoma Egbamuno
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rdohr says Sunday’s international friendly with Brazil will help his team “learn a few things that will make the team better” ahead of the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Rohr was speaking ahead of the much anticipated friendly amidst doubts over his future.
“The game against Brazil will show how much we are progressing after finishing third at the Africa Cup in Egypt,” Rohr said.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for us to learn a few more things that will make us better and stronger for future challenges.
“This is an important test game for us, and we are here to learn from the best. We hope for a very good game against Brazil on Sunday. This will help us prepare ourselves for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho next month,” the coach added.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face off against their Brazilian counterparts on Sunday at the Singapore National Stadium in Kallang. The game is scheduled for 1pm Nigerian time (8pm local time).
Rohr’s future has come under scrutiny in the last few days following tweets by journalist, Osasuo Obayiuwana that the manager was owed three months salaries and was considering quitting after the Brazil friendly.
NEWS ALERT: Reliable information from Singapore indicates that Gernot Rohr COULD quit the @NGSuperEagles job, after the game against #SelecaoBrasileira. Rohr is infuriated that @thenff publicly denied the fact that he is being owed three months wages. https://t.co/2I2Thg3wzT— Osasu Obayiuwana (@osasuo) October 12, 2019
However, the Nigeria Football Federation denied the allegations insisting Rohr is only owed for September.
As we speak, Mr. Rohr is only being owed salary for the month of September 2019, which is being processed.— The NFF 🇳🇬 (@thenff) October 11, 2019
As for Mr. Thomas Dennerby, we have received his resignation letter and of course, he has his right to resign from a job. 2/5
