American Superstar Beyoncé shared the album art for the forthcoming The Lion King: The Gift album and it is getting Nigerians excited. This is because the album features collaborations with Nigerian superstars Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Tekno, Mr Eazi and Tiwa Savage.
The album also features other international stars like Jay Z, Childish Gambino and Pharrell but it seems Nigerians aren't paying too much attention to that.
The 14-track album set to be released on the 19th of July is executive produced by Beyoncé and contains songs from and inspired by The Lion King film.
Here’s a rundown of the tracks that have Nigerian artistes on them:
'Don’t Jealous Me' with Tekno, Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi; 'Ja Ara E' with Burna Boy, 'Brown Sugar Girl' has Wizkid, 'Keys to the Kingdom' with Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi.
This is not the first time that Queen Bey has allowed Nigeria to influence her work. Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie was featured in the song ‘Flawless’ from the 2013 album Beyoncé. Visual artist Laolu Senbanjo worked on Beyoncé's Visual Album, Lemonade in 2016 and in her performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards, the mother of three paid homage to the Yoruba goddess Yemoja with a gold styled attire. She also performed a rendition of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti Zombie at Coachella in 2018.
Beyoncé voices the character Lana in the live-action remake and has teased fans in the past with visual from the movie of her character singing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’.
The artiste also released the video from the song Spirit on digital platforms yesterday and it shared more pictures from the film.
The Lion King live-action remake is set to be released in Nigeria on July 18.
