Bayelsa: Police Extend Curfew
By Emmanuel Onwuka
The Bayelsa State Police Command has extended the curfew imposed in the state till Sunday 23rd of February.
Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia, said the move is due to credible intelligence available to the command that indicates some persons are planning to disrupt the existing peace in the state.
He said following this development, the curfew will be relaxed from Sunday, February 23, 2020. The curfew will take effect from 10 pm to 6am everyday as against 8pm to 6am.
The Bayelsa State Police Command had earlier imposed curfew in the state from Friday, February 14, 2020 to Sunday February 16, 2020 to forestall the escalation of violence that erupted in the state last weekend following the Supreme Court Judgement which sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress and his deputy.
